Homemade Japanese Curry Block und Curry Rice Recipe 日式咖喱块及咖喱饭的做法

Japanese Curry Rice is really popular in China, it tastes just fantastic, and it's also easy to make. Normally I buy the curry block (look photo ) in asian supermarket, it's 2.99 euro for one package, and one package can serve around 3 people. But I really cook it too often and it's kinda expensive to buy it everytime, then I tried to make curry block myself, after several "experiments" I want to share my final curry block recipe with you, it tastes just same like the one from supermarket, maybe even
better (▰˘◡˘▰)...

Now let's get started (◔౪◔) !

Homemade Japanese Curry Block Recipe

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 10 min
Number of servings: enough for cooking 4 times curry soup, everytime serves 3 people

Ingredients:

(here are the curry powder I have tried already, they both work:))

* 4 tbsp curry powder
* 4 tbsp butter (vegetable oil is ok too)
* 5 tsp honey
* 1 and half tbsp ketchup
* 6 tbsp cake flour (I think all purpose flour is ok)

(if you like to eat hot you can still put 1 tsp chili powder or black pepper)

Directions:

1, turn the heat to medium, put butter in a frying pan, wait till the butter is molten and there are small bubbles rising from the bottom to the surface.

2, turn the heat down to low, put curry powder into the frying pan, fry it with butter till you can smell a nice scent of curry.

3, put honey& ketchup and mix it well with the curry mixture.

4, put cake flour, stir the mixture until it is just combined

5, use plastic wrap to cover the box in which you are going to keep your curry block, wait till the mixture cools down, put it into the box, and then it's done!

It's better to keep your curry block in the freezer, just take it out 20 minutes before you are going to use it :).

And FINALLY it's time to cook the curry soup, with our curry block you can cook the soup with chicken or beef, but vegetarian soup tastes super nice too(≧∀≦)ゞ, today im going to show you how to make vegetarian soup cuz im losing weight these days, so now let's start again (ノ>ω<)ノ.

Japanese Curry Rice Recipe

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 50 min
Number of servings: 3 people

Ingredients:

* 2 small onions
* 5 medium potatoes ( use two if your potatoes are bigger)
* 2 big carrots
* 1 package or 1/4 of your self made curry block
* 750 ml hot water
* 1 tsp salt
* 3 tbsp oil
* 1 tsp potato starch (only if you want your soup to be thick)

Directions:

1, cut the onions into slices, cut potatoes and carrots into big cubes.

2, turn the heat to medium, wait till the pot is warm, put 3 tbsp oil, then put your onion slices into the pot and fry them. (if you cook with meat, put the meat into the pot at first, wait till the meat changes color, then put onion slices :)).

3, after you can smell a nice scent of onion, put the potatoes and carrots into the pot, mix it with onion slices and fry for 3 minutes, in this 3 minutes you can go to cook 750 ml water.

4, pour the hot water into the pot, put 1 tsp salt, cover the pot and let it cook for 15 min.

5, mix your curry block piece by piece with the soup. After it's all mixed, cover the pot again and let it cook for 15 min. (if you want to put potato starch, then put it in this step before cover your pot)

6, then put rice into your dish, and pour the curry soup on it, then it's time to EAT(๑´ڡ`๑)!

I hope you will like this recipe, and I really hope you can try it yourself, no matter buy the curry block in supermarket or make by yourself, it's just too nice(♡˙︶˙♡). I will try to post the recipe in German as soon as possible, and hope you guys can write me if there's still any questions :), see you next time!
